After the sale of the family business Roger worked for Almac’s Supermarket.

He was also a member and treasurer of the United Veteran Council of Woonsocket, and a member of the VFW Post 11519 and the DAV Chapter 12. Roger had a great respect for the flag and the military, and devoted much of his time ensuring that all local veteran’s graves displayed the American flag on Memorial Day. His devotion to veteran’s causes ran deep, and he volunteered countless hours to improving the lives of local vets. Roger received the “Citizen of the Year” award in 2002 from the Woonsocket Kiwanis Club and was voted “Veteran of the Year” in 2004 by the United Veteran’s Council of Woonsocket.

Roger was also very involved in The Stadium Theatre Restoration project and took great pride in the many hours he devoted to that cause as well.

Petit of Los Angeles, CA, niece Nancy Petit MD and her husband Robert Olivieri MD of Newark, DE, and their three children, Alexander, Andrew, and Lauren.  In addition, he is also survived by his longtime companion Lucille Galipeau of Cumberland, RI with whom he enjoyed a happy and active social life and especially appreciated his inclusion in her family celebrations.
