William Auray “Ray” Doiron 83, of Robinson St. passed away on October 19, 2023, at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Yvette S. (Neveu) Doiron. Born in Lincoln, he was a son of the late Dominique and Armande (Desjardins) Doiron. Ray was an automotive mechanic for Sears and Robucks for twenty-three years, he then owned and operated the former Dupre Hardware Store for five years. Ray worked as a custodian for St Ann’s Parish and All Saints Parish for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks #850 and participated in the Lodge of Sorrow Ritual with his deep baritone voice. He also sang with St. Ann’s Choir and the Caravan of Cheer. He was very active in St. Ann’s Parish, was a member of many committees as well as a Cub Scout Leader of Cub Pack #4, and a member of the Parish Council. Ray enjoyed camping and doing jigsaw puzzles. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family and will be greatly missed.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Maurice G. Doiron of Stoughton, MA Dominique E. Doiron, Jeanne M. Rogers, and Diane E. Doiron all of Woonsocket, and Suzanne T. Doiron of Providence, and four grandchildren. Ray was predeceased by his siblings Edgar, Armand, Gerard and Sr. Therese Doiron PM.
Visiting hours will be held, Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, from 2:00 – 4:30 PM. Concluding with a prayer service. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Ann Arts and Cultural Center, PO Box 79, Woonsocket, RI 02895 in his memory would be appreciated.
