Thea L. (Rotatori) Barnabe 99, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family in Boynton Beach, FL where she lived for the past four years. She was the adored daughter of the late Saverio and Rosalba ( Conti) Rotatori. Thea was the beloved wife of the late Theophile “Phil” Barnabe, devoted mother of Mark Barnabe and his wife Carol of Cumberland, and Linda (Barnabe) Piccirilli and her late husband Anthony Piccirilli, proud grandmother of David Piccirilli and his loving girlfriend Heather Moran, Caitlin and Jillian Barnabe and great grandmother of Lucia Piccirilli. She is survived by her sister Rina Maculan, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Thea was predeceased by her siblings: Sergio Rotatori, Norma Peripoli, and Leah St. Germain.
Thea was born in Bellingham, MA and moved to RI when she got married. She worked as a waitress while her husband attended watchmaking School. She was a seamstress and loved to sew her own clothes and taught sewing classes at night. She was called a “Fashionista” by her granddaughters Caitlin and Jillian. She worked as a teacher’s aide and retired from the State of RI where she worked for the Division of Motor Vehicles.
Thea was a devoted Catholic and attended Mass regularly. She was also a member of the Order of the Sons of Italy, Past President of the Marcheggiano Women’s Club, and a member of the St. Joseph’s Senior Society. She loved taking care of her grandchildren, going shopping at the mall, playing cards, reading books, watching her daytime soap operas and the Hallmark Channel and baking and cooking. Her funeral with Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 10:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive guests in the entrance of the church at 9:30.
