Sophie H. Perron age 102, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2023. She was the wife of the late Omer A. Perron. Born in Bellingham, MA, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Rose (Kierston) Baldiga. Sophie was a loving mother to Janet Robidoux, Patricia Hutnak, and the late Teresa Duhamel. Sophie was a loving “Gram” to grandchildren: Debra, David, Gary, Kimberly, Sheri, Derek and the late Bruce, great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn. Gregory, Meghan, Randall, Monica, Avery and Olivia, and great great-grandchildren: Yelena, Aryana, London, Caiden, and Cassian. Sophie was predeceased by her siblings Steve, Benjamin, Chester, and Walter Baldiga, as well as Jennie Henschel.
A patriotic woman who loved her country, she worked in the U.S. Rubber Factory after her husband Omer and her brother Walter served in WWII. Her love for her family shone through her acts of love. She was always present to care for the sick, knit and crochet blankets and hats for the colder seasons, and lovingly cook and bake her famous dynamites and lemon cake.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 10:AM at St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI, followed by a celebration of her life at Twelve Acres in Smithfield.
