Serge’s hockey career began in Shawinigan-Sud, Canada when the Montreal Canadiens drafted him at age 17 into their Jr. Canadien league. The following year brought Serge to Rhode Island’s famous auditorium where he played with the Rhode Island Reds for seven years ending his professional career as team captain with the Columbus Checkers and scoring the most points in that league. Serge started and was involved in many training camps for aspiring players.
In the hockey arena, Serge built special relationships while coaching Cumberland High School with both players and parents. He enjoyed coaching several Bantam and Midget teams as well. He was particularly pleased with his 1984 Edgewood team who won the National Midget Championship Tournament playing in St. Louis Arena, during which time, son Sean scored a “Hat Trick” in the final game. He also scouted for Montreal and the Philadelphia Flyers.
