Roland W. Ruge

Roland W. Ruge Sr. 83, of North Main St. in Slatersville, passed away on May 16, 2025, at Oakland Grove Health Care Center. He was the husband of Susan M. (St. Germain) Ruge. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Gerald J. and Rita I. (Brunet) Ruge. Roland was an Industrial Painter for over forty years. He was a member of the Painters District Council 35 Union Boston. Roland was an animal lover he especially loved his dogs. He enjoyed working on cars and trucks, he also liked cutting down trees and chopping wood.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children Corinne A. Scoco of ME, Roland W. Ruge Jr. of Slatersville, Cheryl A. Charbonneau and her husband Maurice of Woonsocket, and Mark W. Ruge and his wife Kathy of West Warwick, eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Roland is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth Duquette and Mary Anne Duquette both of North Smithfield, Madelyn Ortiz of Woonsocket, Cecilia Ruge of ME, and Gertrude Henderson of IL., and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Gerald and Arthur Ruge.

His funeral will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 9:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home. 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Church, Church St. Slatersville, burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday, May 23, 2025, from 4-7 PM.
