Roland J. Cayer

Roland J. Cayer 96, of Port Charlotte, FL and formerly of Woonsocket passed away on August 7, 2022, in Orchid Cove, Venice FL. He was the loving husband of the late Claire (Fleming) Cayer. Roland was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Louis and Cora (McNamee) Cayer. He was a graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy, attended Bryant College and was a WWII veteran serving in the US Army-Air Force. He retired as a Lieutenant from the Woonsocket Police Dept in 1978 after twenty- six years. He then joined the RI Sheriff’s Dept and retired in 1989. Roland was an avid golfer and enjoyed his retirement years playing golf at many Florida golf courses.  

He is survived by his sons: Craig Cayer and his wife Francoise of Venice, FL, Michael Cayer and his wife Kelly of Woonsocket, six grandchildren: Rebecca, Jacob, Michael, Michelle, Robert, and Jen, and five great-grandchildren. His funeral will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, at 9:00 AM in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St, Woonsocket with a service beginning at 10:00AM in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Visiting hours will be Thursday,September 15, from 5-7 PM.
