Robert “Bob” Patenaude, 82, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on October 3, 2023. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Eugene and Rose-Aime (Pincince) Patenaude. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Campopiano) Patenaude and the late Nancy L. (Gilson) Patenaude. Bob graduated from Mt St. Charles Academy and entered the US Naval Service immediately after graduation. He served on active duty for twenty years until he retired from the military in 1978. He then began a career as a government employee working at the Providence Veterans Administration Medical Center in numerous positions until he retired as Assistant Service Chief of Environmental Management Service in 1994 and transferred, on site, to manage the Providence VA Medical Federal Credit Union until its merger with the Providence Postal Federal Credit Union retiring in 2014. Bob was an avid golfer. Also known as Mr. Gadget, he loved to tinker. If you need anything, “just call Bob”. His greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his wife he leaves his son Robert (Rob) Patenaude of Manhattan, NY, his sister, Sr. Vivian Patenaude JM of Wellesley Hills, MA, stepchildren Kenneth Lapierre of Woonsocket, Debra Souliere of N. Smithfield, Lauri Labrie of Blackstone, Jeffrey Lapierre of N. Providence, Gregory Lapierre of Chepachet and Jessica Brien of Harrisville, sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by his daughter Karen M. Patenaude.
His funeral will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, at 9:00 AM at the Fournier and Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a service in the funeral home at 10:00AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-6 PM.
