Richard LaPlante Obituary

Richard A. LaPlante 76, most recently of Sayles Hill Rd., Manville, passed away on February 2, 2022, at Landmark Medical Center. Born in Woonsocket, where he spent most of his life, he was a son of the late Lionel and Florence (Tessier) LaPlante. Richard was a security guard for First Security for eleven years and Securitas for four years before retiring. He was very active in the former St. Louis Parish in Woonsocket, where he served as the director of the altar boys and was a member of the Folk Group. Richard enjoyed playing BINGO, he was thoughtful and generous to a fault, and will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor.

Richard is survived by his longtime friends and caregivers Eugene G. and Celeste Baillargeon of Woonsocket, a niece Maureen Ghazal of Fall River, a great – nephew Nicholas R. Halar and a sister-in-law Claire LaPlante of Woonsocket, a great – niece Meghan Ghazal of Boston, and a dedicated friend, Paul Sitko of Blackstone. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald R. LaPlante.

His funeral will be held Monday, February 7, 2022, at 10:30 AM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a service in the Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket.
