Rene R. Belanger Jr.

Rene R. Belanger Jr 79, of Woonsocket, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Chamberland) Belanger. Rene was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Rene and Cecile (Desmarais) Belanger. Rene worked as a mechanic for many years, but also was the owner/operator of Flea Market Square on Main St in Woonsocket for twenty-two years retiring in 2019. He enjoyed riding Harleys, making furniture, fishing, camping and attending auctions always looking for interesting collectibles for his shop. In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his children: Mark Belanger and his wife Dawn of N. Smithfield, Brenda Martel and her partner Gary Santucci of Harrisville, and Tammy Hyland and her husband Michael of Mendon, MA, seven grandchildren: Megan Shaffer, Holly Belanger, Amanda Plante, Marc Boiteau, Samantha Vasquez, Samantha Ottavi, and Heather Ranucci, twelve great grandchildren, and his siblings: Paul Belanger of Blackstone, Pauline Petri of OH, and Lucille Petri of Nova Scotia. He was also the father of the late Rene R. Belanger III, and brother of the late Doris Grenon and Theresa Allarie.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 3, at 10:00 AM in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St, Woonsocket. A prayer service will begin at 11:00 followed by burial with committal prayers in St. John’s Cemetery in Slatersville.
