Rachel M (Lebrun) Durand

Rachel M. Durand, 82, of Larch St. in Woonsocket, passed away on April 16, 2024, with three of her children by her side. She was the wife of the late Gerald Durand, who passed away on December 23, 2018.  Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late John and Loretta (Henault) Lebrun. Rachel worked for many years as a cashier at Walmart before retiring over twenty years ago. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and talking to her sister every day. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling, working in the garden, floating in a tube in her pool when she was able, and watching the birds and squirrels outside. She enjoyed sitting outside on summer evenings and counting the planes that flew by with her husband when he was alive.  She loved to host family gatherings at her home.

She is survived by her children, Michael G. Durand of Woonsocket, Christine C. Twitchell of Florida, Cathleen L. Plante of Foster, and Jaime M. Durand of Woonsocket, with whom she lived, a sister Pauline A. Latour of New Bedford, MA and many loving grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd. Cumberland, RI. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. The family will greet guests beginning at 9:30 AM.
