Normand A. Rivard 90, of Blackstone, formerly of Woonsocket and Bellingham, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 9, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband for fifty-nine years of the late Constance (Recore) Rivard. Born in Woonsocket, RI on October 5, 1930 to the late Mathias and Anne Marie (Charrette) Rivard.
Normand was a tool and dye maker for the Draper Division of the North American Rockwell Co. for over twenty-five years. He also worked at Wardwell Braiding Co. in Pawtucket for ten years before his retirement in 1993. Normand served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a former Scout Master in Bellingham, and member of the Knights of Columbus and the Royal Travelers. Normand along with his wife Constance loved to travel and visited all the fifty states of the United States and all the Canadian Provinces by motor home and also traveling through Europe and touring China. Their greatest highlight was visiting the Passion Plays in Oberammergau in Germany. He was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Church in Blackstone.
He was the loving father of Deborah Baro and her husband Robert of Blackstone; Gisele Golembeski and her husband Richard of Woonsocket; Russell Rivard and his wife Joanne of Woonsocket; Michael Rivard and his wife Vicky of Franklin, TN; and Christopher Rivard and his companion Shiela of Blackstone. He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Jason Harvey and Melissa Brodeur; Stacey Peckham and Timothy Golembeski; Jennifer Maddy; Brittany Quiles, Mathew, Michael Jr, Ryan, Shawn, Jordan, Jessica, and Jarad Rivard; Jillian and Rebecca Rivard. His good friend Alice Picard of Woonsocket, fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as his loving “doobies”. He was predeceased by his sisters Lucia Tellier, Gertrude Rivard, and Lorenza Burlingame.
His funeral will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Theresa’s Church, Rathbun St. Blackstone, MA. Burial with Military Honors will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
