Woonsocket
Normand W. Beaufort 80 passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, in Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag. He was the loving husband of Ann (Shunney) Beaufort. Normand was born in Woonsocket, the son of the late Walter and Cecile (Riquier) Beaufort. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Germany during the early 1960s. He studied at Rhode Island School of Design and earned an Associate degree from Johnson & Wales University. Following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, Norm worked as a steel fabricator for Getchell & Son for many years, retiring in 2019. He was also an artist, working in oil painting. He had a great love for the ocean, enjoyed travel, and was a devoted Pats fan. He was an avid reader of fiction and history and, along with his wife, enjoyed ballroom dancing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Scott Beaufort of Richmond, RI, Jeffrey Beaufort of Woonsocket, and Maggie Gordon Froehlich and her husband Peter of Mountain Top, PA, his grandchildren Ari and Franny, his sister Pauline (Beaufort) Auclair and her husband Aram of Cumberland, and sister-in-law Mary F. Shunney.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 9, 2022, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI, with services beginning in the funeral home at 11:00.
