One of the brightest stars in the universe was extinguished on October 16, 2024 when God called Nancy G. Saumur home. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Kent Hospital. She was a bright light to so many people whom she had the opportunity to touch over her brief lifetime. She was 64 years old.
Nancy was born in Woonsocket on June 14, 1960, the daughter of the late Paul L. and Constance A. (Lesowski) Vadenais. She was the beautiful and loving wife of 37 years to Ronald Saumur of Pascoag RI. She is survived by her sisters Donna Tetreault and her husband Eugene of North Kingstown RI, Debra Underwood and her husband David of New Smyrna FL, and her sister in law Denise Chasse and her husband John of Bellingham MA. She also has several nieces and nephews.
Nancy worked for many years for Caldor’s department store before realizing that her passion was to work with and help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the Arc of RI.. She really enjoyed helping people realize their potential and seeing that she could bring a smile to their faces. She continued on this path transitioning to a role in the Cumberland RI school system working with children that have similar needs. She retired in 2006
Nancy had a passion for music and movies of all types. She also loved to dance and cook. Most recently, after tracing her genealogy back to King Louis XVI of France, Nancy had a particular interest in the histories of the French and English monarchies. Her infectious smile, laugh and sense of humor will always be remembered by those whom she connected with.
The funeral is private. The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and staff of VNA Care of New England for their outstanding and wonderful care of Nancy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VNA Care of New England, 51 Heath Lane Warwick RI, 02886.
