Michael R. Fortier 44, of Birch Rd., passed away on August 1, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Beth (Cooper) Fortier. Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Richard and Jeanne (Taillon) Fortier of Woonsocket. Michael was a logistics manager for several years. Michael served in the US Marines during Operation Enduring Freedom and was a member of Sixth Motors, Marine Corps Reserves in Providence. He loved playing hockey and was the captain of the Woonsocket High School hockey team that won the state championships in 1992. He was an avid Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Michael loved family parties and get togethers.
Besides his wife and parents, he leaves two sons, Zachary Fortier of Cumberland and Nathaniel Fortier of Woonsocket; a sister Michelle Beauchesne of Manville; and four nieces and nephews, Summer McGowan, Christopher Beauchesne, Heather McGowan and Owen Cooper.
Visiting hours will be hold Monday, August 10, 2020 from 4-7 PM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Social Distancing Guidelines will be observed. In lieu of flowers donations to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516,Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 in his memory would be appreciated.
