Lucille E. (Gallant) Parenteau

Lucille E. (Gallant) Parenteau 96, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Westerly Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond E. Parenteau. Born in Woonsocket, Lucille was a daughter of the late Herve and Blanche (LeFrancois) Gallant. She graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy RI College of Pharmacy and Allied Sciences. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her son Pierre Parenteau. Lucille worked as a registered pharmacist at her father’s pharmacy, Savard & Gallant, Beaudet’s Pharmacy and Pratt’s Pharmacy.

Lucille was a very talented artist and excelled in the mediums of oil and watercolor painting. She also enjoyed needlework and knitting. An avid reader, she channeled her love of reading into teaching adult literacy.

 Lucille is survived by her children: Jacques Parenteau and his wife Katherine of CT, Lise McKinnon and her husband Ian of Little Compton, and Nicole Parenteau and her husband Glen Kujawski of Rye, NY, her daughter-in-law Susan Parenteau of MN, seven grandchildren, and her brother Paul Gallant of Cranston. She was also the sister of the late Roger and Charles Gallant and Pauline Lebrun.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd, Cumberland.  Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland.
