Leo A. Savaria 93, formerly of Pond St. passed away on February 9, 2021 at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of the late Jeanne B. (Harnois) Savaria. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Armand and Aldea (Senecal) Savaria. Leo served in the US Army from 1946-1948. He worked for Drapers Foundry for twenty-eight years and The Foxboro Company for sixteen years before retiring in 1992. Leo enjoyed camping at Echo Lake with his family and playing football. He was an avid card player and the victim of his wife’s competitiveness. Leo loved all animals especially his turkeys and pet duck “Donald”. He was kind and generous with his time, if someone needed help, he was always available to lend a hand.
He is survived by two sons, Richard T. Savaria and his wife Cheryl of North Smithfield, and Marc Savaria and his wife Stephany of Warwick, a daughter Rachel Johnson and her husband Steve of Winter Port, ME, a brother Ernest Savaria of Milford, six grandchildren, Keith Johnson, William T. Savaria, Ryan Johnson, Jason Savaria, Mason Savaria, and Max Savaria and three great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his sisters Marguerite Leclerc and Rita Nault.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021, at 10:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd, Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Wednesday, February 17, 2021 from 4-7 PM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be observed.
