Joseph "Butch" N. Gelinas

Joseph N. “Butch” Gelinas 78, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Woonsocket, died on June 28, 2020, at Lakeland Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Jeannine (Charland) Gelinas. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Loretta (Gelinas) Schmetz and step-son of the late Joseph Schmetz. Butch worked for the Dennison Corp. for seventeen years, and Staples for eleven years before retiring. Butch enjoyed camping on Cape Cod and watching NASCAR Racing.

Besides his wife he leaves a son Dennis Gelinas and his wife Renee of Dayville, CT, and a daughter Renee Gelinas of Tynsboro, MA, a brother Joseph Schmetz and his wife Diane of Lakeland, FL, a sister Claudette Gray of Harrisville, and three grandchildren, Danielle Gelinas, Nicole Tager and her husband George and Thomas Gelinas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital PO Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis TN 38101-9908 in his memory would be appreciated.
