Jeannine L (Lessard) Martel

Jeannine L. Martel 86, formerly of Clinton St. passed away on May 2, 2025, at Oakland Grove Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Edouard and Florence (Geoffroy) Lessard. Jeannine was a secretary at CVS Warehouse for over twenty years before retiring.

She is survived by her son Robert N. Martel of Blackstone as well as nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Estelle Bouchard and Lucille Lessard.

Jeannine was active in St. Ann’s Parish and later All Saints Parish where she volunteered at the bazaar and was a member of both church choirs. She also enjoyed crocheting and was a member of The Linus Group (which made blankets and hats for new borns) and a group at Kennedy Manor that made lap blankets for veterans at the  RI Veterans Home. Jeannine loved to cook and bake. (Her brownies were famous with her son Robert’s roommates at the Boston Conservatory.

Her funeral with visitation will be held Thursday May 8, 2025, at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI beginning at 10:00 AM with a service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Blackstone, MA.
