Jean Paul Saumur

Jean Paul Saumur Jr., 63, affectionately known as JP, Jop and Boppy passed away peacefully at home with his loving family on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Born on July 24, 1959, in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Jean Paul Sr. and Helene (Bruneau) Saumur. He lived most of his life in Rhode Island, later moving to Bellingham, MA with his sister and her family. He is an alumnus of Mt. St. Charles Academy and earned his BA at Rhode Island College. His career was spent in managerial roles in several different industries.

With an undeniable love for his family, JP enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: boardgames, puzzles, football Sundays, rock music, his dogs and spending summers outdoors keeping up his notorious tan.

He is survived by his sister Dee Chasse and her husband John and their daughters Paige and Maddy, his brother Ronald Saumur and his wife Nancy. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Amedisys for their incredible support and care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. The family will greet guests at church beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers JP would like you to spend quality time with your family and friends. “Hearing genuine laughter from the people you love is the most healing sound”
