Germaine T. (Turcotte) Cournoyer

Germaine T. Cournoyer 97, died on March 8, 2021 at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Omer P. Cournoyer. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Flore (Chamberland) Turcotte. Germaine resided in Lincoln, NH for several years before returning to Woonsocket where she had lived for most of her life. She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and attended Business School. She worked for thirty years for the City of Woonsocket, Department of Public Works as an executive secretary before retiring in 1986. She had previously worked at the former Najarian’s Department Store on Main St.

Germaine traveled extensively around the world with her husband Omer, visiting many countries as well as most of the United States. She loved vacationing at the beaches in Narragansett. Germaine also enjoyed reading, creating hooked rugs, watching movies and political shows whether local or national. Lover of all types of flowers, she was very proud of her flower gardens at her Woonsocket home and enjoyed all the flower gardens she visited in her travels. One of her greatest memories of her youth was going to Canada to work on her grandfather’s farm.

Besides her husband, Germaine is predeceased by her son Richard Cournoyer and sister Rita Pelletier. She is survived by a sister Yvette Brunelle of E. Providence and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Monday, March 15, 2021 at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Masks are required and Social Distancing guidelines will be observed.
