Gerald A. Richards 79, of Woonsocket, passed away on January 13, 2022, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Estelle (Demers) Richards. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Lionel and Rena (Gros Louis) Richards. Gerry was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated for the RI Trade Shop School in1966. He worked for the Tupperware Corporation for over twenty years. Gerry was the sexton for the former St. Ann’s Church where he was a parishioner for ten years. He retired in 2020 after fifteen years in the Deli Department of Stop & Shop Supermarket in Bellingham. Gerry was a life member of St. Joseph Veteran Association. He was a member of the Huron Wendat Nation and received his certificate of Indian Status in Canada.
Besides his wife he leaves his loving daughter Colette Whitby and her husband Robert of Uxbridge, a brother David V. Richards of Woonsocket, and three nieces, Jocelyn Smith of Foxboro, Erica Santarlasci of Attleboro, and Christine Richards of Woonsocket. He was predeceased by a daughter, Monique Richards.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-6PM.
