Providence
Francis E. Ducharme 74, of Smith St. passed away on November 1, 2022, at Capitol Ridge. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Raymond and Jeanne (Messier) Ducharme Sr. Francis retired from the US Post Office after ten years in the North Providence Branch. Francis was a member of the US Naval Construction Battalion, better known as the Navy Seabees. He served during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during hostile action. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the M16 Sharpshooter Medal.
He is survived by his daughter Jillian Unwin of Woonsocket, and his grandsons Jarrek and Caden, whom he was so very proud of. He also leaves his brothers Raymond Ducharme Jr of Harrisville, Richard Ducharme of Pascoag, Dennis Ducharme of Foster, and Jeffrey Ducharme of Lincoln, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his one and only love Colleen (Minutelli) Soucy, his son-in-law Ricky Unwin and sister Lois Simpson.
His funeral with visitation will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Please visit:
