Dawn Kane Obituary

Dawn Mari Kane, 60, of Woonsocket, formerly of Coventry and West Warwick, died Monday April 7, 2025 at home. Born in Warwick she was a daughter of Beverly (Rawlinson) (Villandrie) Pomfret of Poultney, VT and the late Dennis Villandrie. Dawn was raised in Coventry and lived in the Coventry/ West Warwick area for most of her life. She resided in Woonsocket for the past several years. Dawn was a graduate of Coventry High School and attended college for several years. She was a proud member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). In her earlier years she worked at Benny’s and Bernie’s stores. Dawn was proud of her career as a dispatcher for the Coventry Police Department and an Auxiliary Police Officer where she served for many years. She also was employed as a security guard for Norad Security in North Kingstown for the past several years. Dawn enjoyed the history and old photos of the area where she grew up. She was the moderator of the Facebook page “I grew up in Coventry” where she maintained memories of her hometown from the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Dawn will be remembered as a friendly and outgoing person. She was at her best when helping others whenever, wherever in any way she could.

Most of all Dawn loved her four sons and her grandchildren; they are and will forever be the light of her life. Dawn is survived by her mother and her four sons Matthew Kane of Coventry, Jonathan Kane and his wife Shannon of Greene, Lucas Kane and Doren Kane both of Coventry. She is survived by her 5 grandchildren and her brothers Mark Villandrie and Thomas Pomfret II.

In honor and recognition of Dawn’s love and care for children the family suggests that memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 33015 or www.stjude.org
