Claire E (Mercier) Laprade

Claire E. (Mercier) Laprade, 86, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert J. Laprade for sixty-six years who died fourteen months ago. Claire was born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Joseph and Blanche (Roy) Mercier. She was the beloved mother of Donald Laprade and his wife Erin of Woonsocket, Jean Paul Laprade and his wife Denise of North Smithfield, and Dr. Andre Laprade and his wife Anne of Lincoln. Claire also leaves her sister-in-law Denise Mercier of Buena Park, CA and her cherished grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Timothy Laprade and wife Christina and their children, Jacob and Norah; Angela Lambert and husband Matthew, and their children Everett and Elois; David Laprade and wife Helene and their children Daniel, Margaret, Peter, and James; and Stephen Laprade, Elizabeth Laprade, and Alex Laprade. She was predeceased by her brother Roy Mercier.

Claire lived most of her life in Woonsocket and worked for the Woonsocket School Department at East Woonsocket Elementary School as an office assistant for many years. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church.

Most of all Claire loved her family and they loved her. She was kind, giving, and generous and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Devoted to her family, she will be greatly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre St. Woonsocket. The family will greet guest at church beginning at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Bellingham where she will lie eternally beside the love of her life, Bob. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
