Berthe (Cournoyer) Girard

Berthe Girard 97, formerly of Kings Factory Rd. in Charlestown, passed away on December 3, 2021, at Westerly Hospital. She was the wife of the late Marcel R. Girard. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Edouard and Robertine (Vekeman) Cournoyer. Berthe was a Real Estate agent for many years. She had previously worked as the bookkeeper for the ARCO Station on Cass Ave. in Woonsocket for thirty years. Berthe was an avid golfer and was very proud of her two hole-in-ones!

She is survived by her son, Marcel E. Girard and his wife Melanie of Pascoag; daughter Jocelyn R. Girard-Landay and her husband Craig of San Bernadino, CA, grandson, Woonsocket policeman Andrew R. Girard, a sister Jo-Ann and brother Edward. Berthe was predeceased by two brothers Gustave and Sylvio Cournoyer

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 17, 2021, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham.
