Roland L. Richer

Roland L. Richer 69, of Winthrop St., died peacefully, June 23, 2017 at MA General Hospital surrounded by his loving family and dearest friends. He was the beloved husband of Diane E. (Girard) Richer. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Armand and Jeanne D’arc (Beausoleil) Richer. Roland served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked for the State of RI as a Probation Counselor in the Juvenile Division and for Social and Rehabilitation Services for over thirty years. Roland loved to garden, he also enjoyed working with wood, and playing cards and dominoes. Roland was very active in the church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the board of directors at The Ballou Home. Roland’s greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  Besides his wife he leaves his two sons, Jacques P. Richer of Phoenix, AZ and Andre A. Richer of Plymouth, MA, a brother Robert Richer of Hebron, NH and three grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 AM from the Fournier and Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket.   A Committal Service will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to All Saints Feed My Sheep Kitchen, 323 Rathbun St. Woonsocket, RI 02895 in his memory would be appreciated.
