Joseph “Pappy” R. Landi Sr. 91, of 218 Pond St. died December 30, 2017 at St. Antoine Residence. He was the husband of the late Christine Landi. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Rocco and Anna (Martin) Landi. Joseph worked for White’s Construction for many years as a shop steward, then became a painter for Donewell Co. He also worked for the State of RI as a Deputy Sheriff. Joseph was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He also served in the RI National Guard. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6342 of North Smithfield.

 

He is survived by his daughter Pamela Henault of North Smithfield, two step-children, eight grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his three sons, Anthony, David and Joseph Landi Jr., a brother, Leroy “Buster” Landi, and a sister Mary Allain.

 

Joseph was an avid motorcycle rider, starting at the age of 16. He served as the President of the Motorcycle Club, Huns. He loved hanging around Dunkin Donuts where he met his old friends, Be-Bop, Phil, Bozo and new friends, Little Leo, Roger, Richard, Ronnie, Rene, Terry and Chuck. He said it was like “home away from home”. He loved all kinds of crafts. Best of all he loved his family very much.

 

His funeral with visitation will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will be held in St. Charles Cemetery in Blackstone.
