Woonsocket
Jean L. LaCroix 64, of 429 East School St, died Monday January 15 in RI Hospital. He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Raymond and Rita (Bergeron) LaCroix. Jean was a carpenter working for many years with his brother Roger retiring in 2013. In addition, he taught guitar and violin lessons at Al Drew’s Music in Woonsocket, and was the owner/operator of Stringwerks in Woonsocket for fifteen years, teaching lessons in all forms of stringed instruments. He earned an Associates Degree in Music Theory, and enjoyed playing in many local bands, but especially enjoyed playing with his friend Raymond Huguenin. In 2011, Jean had a radio program on WOON called “Echoes From the Valley” which highlighted local musical talent.
He is survived by two sons: Mark Girard of NY, and Aaron LaCroix and his wife Dana of Bellingham, two daughters; Kim Girard of Sebastian, FL, and Ali Girard of MD, seven grandchildren, his brother Roger LaCroix of Onset, MA, and his sister Therese Laverdiere and her husband Richard of North Smithfield. He was also the brother of the late Richard LaCroix.
Visiting hours will be Monday 4-7 PM in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St, Woonsocket, with a prayer service beginning at 6:45.
Committal prayers and burial will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
