Hortense Y. Lanois 92, formerly of Pelletier Ave., died October 12, 2018 at St. Antoine Residence. She was the wife of the late Edmond Lanois. Born in Woonsocket, she was a daughter of the late Philippe and Georgianna (Roy) Gariepy. Hortense was a textile worker in area textile mills including Berger Mills and the French Worsted Co. before she became a full time homemaker caring for her family. She was a member of the Golden Hearts Club and St. Joseph Sr. Citizens. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Hortense enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by a son Paul Lanois and his wife Sharon of Woonsocket; four daughters Jeanne Allam and her husband Douglas of Woonsocket, Pauline Cabana and her husband Edmond of Blackstone, Annette Whitney and her husband David of N. Smithfield, and Michelle Ciullo and her husband Steven of Mansfield, MA; a sister Doris Bernier of N. Smithfield, sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son Robert Lanois, and her siblings Raoul Gariepy, Alida Trudel, Simone Girard, Aline Dubois, Rita Bouley, and Lillian Chaput.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday 4-7 PM.
