Ernest R. Plante 72, of Blackstone St, passed away with his family by his side, Saturday, January 5, in the Pine Grove Nursing Home, in Pascoag. He was the husband of the late Rita M. (Pincince) Plante. He was born in Woonsocket, a son of the late John and Lillian (Leduc) Plante. Ernest was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and served as a ship fitter aboard the USS George Clymer. He worked for Defond Roofing, Peterson Puritan Aerosol, and worked for the Blackstone Millville Regional School system for over twenty years retiring in 2004. He was a former member of the Millerville Men’s Club and was a member of the D.A.V.
Ernest is survived by five children: Tim, Scott, Matthew, Stacy, and Andrew, and nine grandchildren: Tyler, Jacob, Kayleigh, Ann-Marie, Sophia, Andrew, Elise, Benjamin, and Jamison. He is also survived by one brother, Edward Leduc of Slatersville, and was the brother of the late Robert Plante and Pauline Humphrey.
His funeral with visitation will be held Tuesday, January 15, at 9:00 AM in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St, Woonsocket with a brief prayer service at 11:00. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham.
