George E. Wilcox

George E. Wilcox 85, of South Main St. died peacefully Sunday at the home of his niece, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Claire (Bergeron) Wilcox and Lucille (Fournier ) Rock Wilcox. Born in Millville, MA, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary Ann (Hoggarth) Wilcox. George worked for the Draper Co. for twenty years as a mechanic. He then worked for the Digital Corporation as a computer software programmer for many years and as a beverage technician for the former Pub Dennis. He was a WWII Army Veteran. George was an ham radio operator enthusiast for many years and a member of W1 QSL Bureau. Although he was an avid Red Sox fan, he recently gained an appreciation for the Yankees.

He is survived by a son Brian Wilcox and his wife Brenda of Douglas, MA., a brother Charles E. Wilcox of Andalusia, AL, a sister Phyllis E. Walker of Burrillville, a niece and caregiver Barbara Hoppe and her husband Billy and grandson Brandon of Forestdale, with whom he was living, and two grandsons, Joshua and Brayden. He was also the sister of the late Dorothy E. Larcheveque.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 PM at the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Visiting Nurse Service of Greater Rhode Island, 6 Blackstone Valley Place, Lincoln, RI 02865 in his memory would be appreciated.
